Supermarket Chain Cooperated to Return Schweizer Schoggi Price - Upon Request from the Observer

In an unexpected turn of events, retired architect Daniel Traber encountered a slight hiccup while ordering his favourite Villars schnapps-filled chocolate from Coop's online shop.

On August 12, 2025, Mr. Traber purchased 30 tablets of the chocolate, a delight he has been enjoying for years. The chocolate, produced by Freiburg manufacturer Villars, comes in various flavours such as Williams, cherry, and whiskey. This time, he ordered the chocolate to take home to his friend who had recently visited him.

However, upon receiving the order, Mr. Traber found the chocolate to be inedible due to an unusual consistency and lack of liquid. Despite his disappointment, he decided to take action.

Approaching Coop customer service, Mr. Traber requested an exchange of the goods in the local branch. Unfortunately, his request was refused. The case took a positive turn, though, when the local media outlet, The Observer, intervened.

Coop, in response to the situation, announced that online-ordered products can be returned and replaced in a local sales outlet. The chocolate producer, Villars, informed Mr. Traber that storage and transport challenges during hot summer months may have caused the chocolate to lose its alcohol content.

In this instance, Coop will credit Mr. Traber the goods value. Mr. Traber has been instructed to reorder the chocolate and return the spoiled goods personally upon delivery for a possible refund.

Despite the temporary setback, Mr. Traber has decided to temporarily refrain from his favourite chocolate but plans to order it again once it gets cooler. This incident does not seem to have affected his loyalty towards Coop, as the article does not mention any other complaints or issues related to Coop's online shop.

It's a reminder for all online shoppers to double-check their orders and not hesitate to reach out for assistance when needed. Here's to hoping that Mr. Traber's favourite chocolate returns to its original glory soon!
